Why I love the library

“The world is quiet here.” ― Lemony Snicket

I do seasonal work. This means in between winters of snowboarding I am lucky to have time to spend on whatever I choose. One of my favorite places to go is the library. Now, you might associate libraries with dusty books and a middle-aged, bun-wearing, shushing librarian. But actually libraries are big mazes of information just waiting to be explored.

For example whenever I plan to visit a new country, I love to read up about the history, borrow a travel guide or even get a language course. Most have free internet and computers, which might not mean much to urbanized people with wifi spots on every corner. For me, living in a country town on the edge of 2 national parks, most cafes don’t have wifi, believe it or not.

So when I need to write emails, book flights, check my finances or simply read a book, the library is where you can find me. It is my office, my travel agency, my connection to the World Wide Web and my information crack cocaine.

Hi, my name is Jo. I am a Snowboard Instructor based in New Zealand. For the past 6 years I have been traveling the globe searching for snow. Last winter, while I was instructing in South Korea, I was inspired to create this blog: thesingingmonkey.com.
The main goal for this blog is to inspire women to get down with their bad self. To be tougher, sexier and ready to kick some butt. Because the world needs more wild women.
